Fashion: Flip

Why is summer going so fast? I don't like it one bit. Thought I would share with you one of my favorite summer outfits :)

I have never been very comfortable walking in heels so this summer I have been trying to wear them as much as I can (raised by a tomboy). I also always bring a pair with me, it makes the switch from daytime outfit to evening real easy :)

One of my favorite tanks, it reads.. Imagine, Imagine, Inspire, Inspire, Educate, Educate, Create, Create, Liberate, Liberate, Love, Love

I can not get enough of this hat :)

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I am attending a BBQ for my husbands work and then going to Boston for a Baby Shower :)

News: Back To The Titanic They Go!

Before Leonardo walked the decks of that very famous ship, I was reading everything I could find on the mysterious Titanic. At a very young age I had every book I could convince my parents to buy, had seen every T.V. special made, and covered my room with posters and pictures. I continue to dream about visiting the amazing ship.. no luck so far ;)

The loss of SS Titanic, 14 April 1912: The lifeboats. All that was left of the greatest ship in the world - the lifeboats that carried most of the 705 survivors. Operated by the White Star Line, SS Titanic struck an iceberg in thick fog off Newfoundland.I almost screamed yesterday at the office when I noticed their was an announcement on Aol News. RMS Titanic Inc. and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution are returning to the Titanic! It has been six years since anyone has seen the magnificent ship, therefore they are putting together a team of the best scientists, archaeologists, and oceanographers to see what shape the wreck is in. According to the article they do not plan to bring back artifacts but will be exploring as much debris as they can.

It is said that they will be leaving Newfoundland on August 18th to start their journey into the deep.

Just thought I would share in case there was any other Titanic fanatics like me out there :)

Fashion: Some of My Inspiration

I was obsessed with Full House the minute it hit the air. I have seen every Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Movie and I have always found inspiration from their style.. no matter how strange it has been. I find these women to be strong, creative, stylish and smart people who have shown us the correct way to grow up and mature within the Hollywood lights.

I was recently looking through an old Marie Claire magazine and was stunned, for the second time, by this amazing photo shoot Ashley Olsen did. Everything from the lace to the hair just inspires me. I felt I had to share the pictures with you guys!

I love these two (above and below). They are just so raw and natural.

Photos were found in: Marie Claire Magazine, September 2009

What do you guys think?
Has anyone read their book? Called Influence?

Hope you all are having a good Monday. Mine has been busy, busy! I heard news that my brother had made it to Dublin, Ireland (He is backpacking through Europe for the next 3 weeks) last night... Not sure where he is off to next... I doubt he knows either.

P.s. I want to thank all of my amazing followers! I cant believe I hit 92! There will be a giveaway at 100 followers so stay tuned folks...

Health: Remember Nature?

Recently when I was reading through Women's Health magazine I came across an interesting fact. I was pleased to find out that by spending time in nature you can actually improve your memory! who would have thought.  Of course I knew nature was important to ones soul and mental health but I never really put much thought into what it might do for my memory.

According to a study in the magazine, people who spend time outdoors recall 20percent more than people who do not spend anytime among nature. How does this work? Nature stimulates the brain with its beauty and serenity, yet it does not require our brain to do much, thus letting our mind rest and allowing our brain to remember more!

Personally, I have not taken a good long walk in the woods in a while... I think it is about time :)

Wednesday Work Wear: The Classic Concert T

I don't own as many concert Ts as I would like, but I do love this one. I got it when I went to a show at a small bar in Portland, Maine. The musician, Nick Curran was preforming with the band that played at my wedding!

His music is amazing, he plays classic rock and roll and blues and is normally dressed in 50's attire. Curran plays all over the world so if any of you get a chance to see him it would definitely be worth it! You can check out his myspace here:

A black cardigan is a must in my closet ... I actually need to get a few more, I am so scared that something might happen to this one.

Happy Hump Day... Can you believe that it is already getting close to August?! Summer goes by way to fast!

Personal: SORRY AGAIN!

Hi Guys!

I know its been a while since I have posted anything... Lately I have been incrediably stressed out. I kind of feel like every time I turn around something bad happens or I get bad news. Anyone else know this feeling? I guess the only thing to really do is wait out the storm... eventually I will hit rock bottom and then start the climb back up to a more enjoyable spot...

I hope everyone else is having a better week than me... What did you all do this weekend? I had to work and then spent most of my time in the water seeing it was too hot to do anything else.

Sometimes it feels amazing to just blow 20 dollars at the drugstore on random things. It truly comforts me :). I am currently reading The Short Second Live of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer. It is a short and easy read but I am actually really liking it. Candy is must, especially if your down... and fashion magazines always make me smile!

New posts coming soon...

Book: Book Crazies!

Hi Loves,

First, I apologize for not posting anything in 4 days... this is very unlike me, but again my crazy life got a little crazier. This includes our furnace getting clogged and filling the house with smoke... the joys of being a first time homeowner!

Second, I wanted to share a website with all of you that I have been meaning to talk about for a while. Are any of you familiar with www.Goodreads.com ? Its pretty fantastic I must say.

The purpose of the site is to be able to track and share everything you have read or would like to read. For huge book nerds like me, this website is amazing. You can make different lists, such as, Read, Currently Reading, To Read, etc. You can also read reviews, write your own, join chat rooms and check out how many stars novels have received.

Most of the time I do not have time to write reviews (plus I much rather write them on here :)) or join chat rooms but I love the fact that I can keep track of what I have read.

If you ever get a chance or think that goodreads.com might be something you would enjoy, check it out! You can find me on here at goodreads.com/jessica30

Film and Fashion: Eclipse and My 23rd!

So as you probably remember about two weeks ago I celebrated my 23rd birthday. I had dinner with some of my closest friends and then myself and two of my best girlfriends headed to see Eclipse! I thought I would write a small review on the film and show off what I wore :)

Film: I very much enjoyed this film. The third book of the Twilight Saga is my favorite and I was worried about how well the movie would turn out. Although they did not do things in quite the same order, I felt this film was better than New Moon. I also was pleased to see that Kristen Stewart showed a little more emotion in this film, which helped make her a more believable Bella.

The soundtrack was great just as I had guessed... I keep meaning to go pick it up! I also felt there was a good mix between special effects and actual stunts which always makes a film seem more realistic.

I hated that the actress playing Victoria had to change. I understand the reasoning but still! I feel that Rachelle Lefevre would have done a wonderful job in this one. I also couldn't stand that Kristen Stewart's hair was not real! I found it very noticeable and it bugged me.

Clearly the parts of this film I did not like were minor, and overall I believe it came out very well. It will definitely be interesting to see how they recreate the last book!

Question: Adsense

Do any of you use Adsense? I have been looking into it but it is really hard to completely understand it. It seems so simple, which makes me question why everyone doesnt use it. Thought I would get some opinions and see if anyone had experience with it.

Personal: July 4th 2010

Fourth of July is a big celebration in my family. All of my fathers relatives head up to our property on Crystal Lake in Maine. We eat, laugh, swim and just relax. I thought I would share a few pictures with you guys. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Pepper - A game my family plays for hours... the best part is the game really doesn't have rules or a purpose.. they just hit and catch a baseball :)

The picture from above, but not cut off. I am making it a habit to always were a hat when I am in the sun. Fedoras work great for this purpose.

Fashion: It's Back, It's White

I'm completely loving black denim this year. For starters, colors like bold blue really pop when you wear them with black bottoms. I have always hated blue on blue so I am excited to wear some of my blue tops with these jeans.

This night I went very simple, black on bottom, white on top! I love how this outfit is simple but very eyecatching at the same time. This instance I was going to a backyard BBQ and didn't want to be overdressed, so the necklace, sunglasses and black heels were all I needed to complete the look :)

Lately I have been loving anything that has a Native American look to it. I found this necklace at H&M for under 5dollars and absolutly love it!

Top: Gap $10 I told you I have a lot of these T's in different colors :)
Jeans: Forever21 $12.99
Necklace: H&M under $5
Sunglasses: Fossil
Heels: Steve Madden
Bag: B. Makowsky

Maine continues to be incredibly hot, so like I have been for weeks now I am spending all of my time at the lake! Forth of July pictures coming tomorrow....

Health: Food Fight!

I read tons and tons of magazines per week and lately I have be seeing all these recipes for making your own beauty products. When I finally got some time I hit up my local grocery store as well as my own fridge and made myself some wonderful salt and sugar body scrubs!

~Ingredients~
Olive Oil
Brown Sugar (NOT soft baking sugar)
White Sugar
Almond Oil
Sea Salt
Essential Oils
Rubbermaid Small Plastic Containers

~Favorite Sugar Scrub Thus Far~
1/2 Cup Olive Oil or Almond Oil
3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla for Scent

~Alternative Sugar Recipe~
1/2 Cup White Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Almond Oil
2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
5 Drops of Ylang Ylang Oil
Sprinkles of Rosemary

I actually made the alternative recipe first and though I did like it I found the second one easier with a more pleasant smell and same results.

My very Cute Helper :)

~Salt Scrub~
1 Cup Olive Oil or Almond Oil
1 1/4 Cup Sea Salt
5-7 Drops of Tea Tree Oil

I store my Scrubs in small Rubbermaid containers, this way I don't have to worry about glass breaking in the shower. I save excess in Mason Jars. I normally make enough for 3 to 5 showers. I can't believe how unbelievably soft they make my skin... I also can't believe how much some people pay for a body scrub when it is such an easy project :)

WARNING: These scrubs can make the tub very slippery so be careful!

FYI: Blog Under Construction

Hi Loves,

So as you can probably see I am working on my background... I switched it to all white like it is now, but now I feel like it looks like it is missing something. Over the next week I will probably keep messing with it. If you have an suggestions they are very much appreciated :)

Fashion: Wednesday Work Wear

So here is an outfit I wore back in the Spring to work. I am absolutely loving boyfriend pants right now. Anything lose and comfy is the way to go in my book :)

Now if I had not been going to work I would have loved to wear black suspenders and black gladiator heels. Unfortunately I do have to remember I work at a small pool shop and will not be walking any runways anytime soon ;)

Do any of you girls rock suspenders? What are your thoughts on them? Id really like to get some.

T- Shirt: Gap $10
Khakis, Boyfriend style: Gap Sale $14.99
Sandals: Steve Madden

Maine was 96 degrees today and horrible. I love the summer heat but 96 and humid is just too much for me. Luckily when I got home last night my husband and I loaded up our 4month old pup and headed to the lake. A few long swims out into the water and back cooled all three of us right off!

Happy Hump Day!

Beauty: fun phalanges

I rarely paint my own nails, but in a effort to save money and time I am trying to get better about it. Recently  I have fallen in love with polish from Wet N Wild. The best part? its $1.99

I am wearing the shade called Bite the Bullet

What is everyone doing this weekend? I am assuming most of my U.S readers will be celebrating 4th of July... I will be spending the weekend painting the exterior doors on my house and then the holiday with my family at the lake :)

Everyone stay safe and have a blast!
